The grieving process is a painful and complex event and the funeral service is an important part of expressing grief. It is also a crucial stage in the healing process as it allows the bereaved opportunity to express their emotions. ********* A person's life deserves the finest of celebrations and ceremonies possible, both through the written word and the presentation of the service. It is my honour and duty to prepare a service that is accurate, authentic and appropriate, turning a distressing event into a beautiful, meaningful memory.
There are no firm rules and every service is different. It should meet the wishes of the family or friends of the loved one and be seen as an occasion that provides mutual comfort and support for all.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book a celebrant through the Funeral Director? You have every right to choose your own Celebrant and Service type. If you use a Funeral Director, just give them my details. Please ask the Funeral Director to check with me that I'm free BEFORE booking a service time, to ensure that I can work with you. The Funeral Director will deal with all the fees; you would not need to pay me directly. Am I restricted by the content of the service? Does it have to be religious? As an Independent Celebrant, I offer Celebration of Life funeral services with religious or spiritual elements, or services with no such elements. It is your choice and I will endeavour to represent spirituality or respect the absence of such. What if I want a completely different type of funeral for my loved one? You are not restricted by the type of ceremony you are want for your loved one. A natural burial - which is less time-restricted and sometimes cheaper than a cremation - with or without a Funeral Director; a low cost direct cremation with just a couple of family members, perhaps with a lovely memorial later in a venue that is more fitting to your loved one (such as a sports' club, pub or community centre); or a traditional cremation or burial under the guidance of a trusted Funeral Director. The cost of these can vary from one Funeral Director to another but we can plan this together. What can I include in the service to make it personal? Anything (within reason!) Celebrations of Life can be magical, irrespective of budget, from the traditional to the more unusual including symbolic ceremonies such as a tree of life; stories/tributes out of the hat; 'life snapshots' from near and dear; traditional details about life, love & achievements; and a life told through readings and music. It is your ceremony to choose that represents your loved one.
